So now that Brad and Angelina are probably depressed because of their recent split, their efforts to help Haiti earthquake victims may not be 100%. Leave it to the concerned members of IABC Phoenix and Phoenix PRSA to take on the important job of continuing the relief efforts.

Church World Service is one of the top-rated charities involved with the relief efforts in Haiti, and the organization has identified "hygiene kits" as an urgent need for the survivors. IABC Phoenix and Phoenix PRSA saw this as an excellent opportunity to support Church World Organization and so, they set a simple plan into action: IABC and PRSA are urging their members and other communications professionals in the Valley to pitch in and assist in acquiring these hygiene kits for the Haiti earthquake survivors.

Enter fabulous YOU, professional communications person! We need you and your agency or company to help us collect items that should be included in these hygiene kits (highlighted items are most needed!):

* Hand towels measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels)

* Washcloths

* Wide-tooth combs

* Nail clippers (no metal files or emery boards)

* Bars of soap (bath size, in wrapper)

So here's the challenge: 

1. Tell your friends and family, and your bosses that it would be good for their souls to donate any of the items above to be sent to Haiti as part of hygiene kits. For example: $200 worth of bar soap or wide-tooth combs. You gotta convince them. And the more you collect, the better! Once you determine which item(s) you will be donating/collecting, please let us know via DM. We want to  track contributions and ensure we will have completed kits, and not over duplication of one item.

2. Bring these donations to...and this is where #buzzcation sets in...SIDE BAR on Feb. 4^th. For your generosity and kindness, SIDE BAR will reward you with a magic wristband that entitles you to drinks at happy hour prices all night long! Owner Josh Parry is ridiculously splendid and cooperative (and cute), and is always willing to do anything to help the community and beyond.

3. Fun part, trust meà We'll create an assembly line where 7 people will be assigned to stuff Ziploc bags with these items. (Don't worry if you get tired or need a drink break...someone will relieve you, believe me.) The goal is to make 350 kits containing each item above.

If you have no time to shop for these items, however, IABC and PRSA will gladly accept your cash or check.

The key is for you and your peeps to donate the goods needed, or even donate cash for the shipping of these kits. IABC and PRSA will arrange the shipping details, but they are counting on your generosity to make sure they’ve got something to ship.

Again, in such short notice, SIDE BAR stepped up and offered to host what will be another fabulous #buzzcation. You’re going to meet some very awesome, generous, good-looking people at this buzzcation benefit event. You will want to be there…WITH DONATIONS IN TOW!
